RETURN & REFUND POLICY
This coin was a commemorative issue celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Panama.
The obverse of the coin displays an armoured bust with helmet of Vasco Nunez de Balboa facing left surrounded by the legend. The lettering reads: UN CUARTO DE BALBOA *CINCUENTENARIO*.
On the reverse of the coin there is a coat of arms with 9 stars above. The name of the country is above that with the silver content on both sides and the date below.
The lettering is REPUBLICA DE PANAMA LEY 0.900 GR 6.25 1953.
Balboa was a Spaniard who was the first European who crossed the Isthmus and reached the Pacific by land. He discovered the Perlas Archipelago in 1513. The 9 stars on the coin represent the 9 provinces of the country at that time (there are now 10).
